A Procedure for Biological Sensitive Pattern Matching in Protein Sequences
A Procedure for fast pattern matching in protein sequences is presented. It uses a biological metric, based on the substitution matrices as PAM or BLOSUM, to compute the matching. Biological sensitive pattern matching does pattern detection according to the available empirical data about similarity and affinity relations between amino acids in protein sequences. Sequence alignments is a string ...
متن کاملFast Practical Exact and Approximate Pattern Matching in Protein Sequences
Here we design, analyse and implement an algorithm that searches for motifs in protein sequences using masking techniques (“wordlevel” parrallelism). Our algorithm speeds up known algorithms by a factor of 20 (or the alphabet size). Furthermore, we present graphs of the running times of the algorithm in comparison to its theoritical time complexity.
متن کاملEvaluation of Similarity Measures for Template Matching
Image matching is a critical process in various photogrammetry, computer vision and remote sensing applications such as image registration, 3D model reconstruction, change detection, image fusion, pattern recognition, autonomous navigation, and digital elevation model (DEM) generation and orientation. The primary goal of the image matching process is to establish the correspondence between two ...
متن کاملEvidence against a retinotopic-template matching in honeybees’ pattern recognition
Currently two hypotheses exist as to how insects process visual images, as photograph-like 'retinotopic-templates', or as a set of features extracted by the visual system. Several results obtained in honeybees cannot be reconciled with a retinotopic-template matching. (i) Bees discriminated between two patterns that should not be distinguished according to the template hypothesis. (ii) Bees pre...
متن کاملCompression-Based Template Matching
Textual image compression is a method of both lossy and lossless image compression that is particularly effective for images containing repeated sub-images, notably pages of text (Mohiuddin et al., 1984; Witten et al., 1992). The process comprises three main steps: Extracting all the characters from an image; Building a library that contains one representative for each character class; Compress...
